Special Message from the PURPOSE SAN DIEGO Team:
Dear Purpose Driven Leader,
Each month we bring in a speaker to set the tone for the table conversations. Our speaker this month will be Chris Megison. Chris is the founder of Solutions for Change, a non-profit in Vista that takes homeless families off the street and enrolls them in a 1,000 day program to change the trajectory of their lives. Solutions for Change also owns a social enterprise called Solutions Farm, a aquaponics farm that employs the homeless parents while their kids go to school. The farm produces 10 different types of lettuce, and the main client for the lettuce is the Vista school system so the product is feeding their kids. This combination of non-profit with a social enterprise attached is a business model that's designed to be sustainable and productive in addressing a huge social issue.
We had an amazing initial meeting and we look forward to bringing the community back together each month to share best practices, connect like-minded, like-hearted people to each other and make them aware of the resources in the community. Purpose San Diego is focused on three main initiatives:
- How we bring together those in San Diego who are effecting change
- How we bring more awareness to these people and organizations
- How we help individuals and companies doing good to be more effective in their initiatives.
